Measure both inputs
Weighing coffee and water produces a more repeatable ratio than scoops and cup markings. A commonly used starting range for filter coffee is about 55–65 grams per litre, then adjusted to taste.
Keep method consistent
Grind size, water temperature, contact time and agitation change extraction. Change one variable at a time when refining the result.
Scale the batch
Once the preferred grams-per-cup figure is known, multiply it by the number of cups and convert the total into whole coffee bags for shopping.
Practical checklist
- Use fresh water and record a successful recipe.
- Treat cup volume as an input rather than a universal standard.
