| Planting area | 15 | m² |
|---|---|---|
| Bulbs per area | 45 | bulbs/m² |
| Extra allowance | 10 | % |
| Pack size | 25 | bulbs |
Method and assumptions
density_estimate = area_m2 / (spacing_m**2); grid-fit count needs actual width and length
Count centres that fit within the usable length and width. Alternate staggered rows shift by half the plant spacing; the row spacing remains your input.
Including both ends places the first and last plants at the run boundaries when spacing permits. Double rows multiply the count; check the species’ spacing.
Density is an editable product or design input. Round the plant requirement up before rounding to packs.
Example with the selected inputs
- Required quantity: 743 bulbs
- Packs to buy: 30
- Purchase quantity: 750 bulbs
- Left over: 7 bulbs
Change the inputs to match your own task. Whole packages are rounded up after allowances, so purchase quantity and actual requirement can differ. Apply each allowance once.
